THE KNIFE - one of man's oldest tools, born out of necessity in his hunt for survival. Times have changed - and so has technology - but to some of us, the knife is still a prime possession. A possession that gives great satisfaction from its ownership and use, knowing that it was given life by a man's mind eye and hand in a time honored tradition - but using modern design and enduring materials.

Please note: the S4 is no longer made as the Bear Grylls endorsed signature version.

This website is now pretty much dedicated to showcasing my exceptionally successful S4- survival knife. First created back in April 2007 as a collaboration with the well known adventurer Bear Grylls, the instantly recognisable Signature knife was developed. In November 2007, after extensive testing and filming in some of the world's extreme locations, Bear asked if we could go with a new knife but one with a part serrated blade instead of the original plain edge, and so the S4 was born. During the next couple of years interest in acquiring this iconic little self rescue survival knife was so incredible that in October 2009 I needed to stop offering the named knife. But after showing the knife without the insignia on its blade the demand for the renamed S4-Survival knife (model shown) became even greater and by the following August 2010 the waiting list needed to be closed off and for the foreseeable future, no back orders are being taken.

Every part of the S4 is made in my small workshop, ground, machined, cut, stitched and finished from the pedestrian materials by my own hand. The design criteria demanded a practical and dependable custom made survival knife with a short blade remaining light and slim enough to be carried unobtrusively. This is achieved along the waistline on the belt or when tucked into a cargo pant, jacket or rucksack pocket - compact but capable. The design has been proven and tested to good effect over many seasons in some of the world's most inhospitable environments.

NB. Sorry but due to the excessive backlog I am currently not taking on any new orders; if I can make finished work available it will be listed as an additional image below.
